"If only that painting was a trout!" The Lady & The Tramp, features the way-less-commonly-painted, but probably far-more-commonly-caught than the trout, the Mountain Whitefish (Prosopium williamsoni), and a weimaraner named Lady. This painting is based directly off of a photo I took while fishing with a friend; he was pulling the not-trout out of the water while Lady lurked behind, blending into the rocks.

I had been sitting on this weird long canvas I had for awhile, and as soon as I took that picture I knew exactly what should go on it. I thought this was also a perfect opportunity for me to get more comfortable painting water.
I love how this turned out, even if it's not a trout. For me this painting is about finding beauty and the victory in the little thing. Not every fins you catch is going to be a the most stunning rainbow trout, but a whitefish can be just as cool, depending on your perspective.
This painting has gone to a loving home! It was bought by a friend of mine for the friend that caught this fish! How cool is that!
